Main Window

The ‘main window’ is known as the 'shell' of the program. The shells main purpose is to encapsulate all the major forms & controls of DATAHUB in a single application window. It also provides key operation controls to help aid the navigation of the system.

After starting the application and successfully logging in, the shell is loaded onto the screen (as shown in Fig 1).

Fig 1 – the initial view of the ‘Main Window’, aka the ‘Shell’

The shell is made up of 5 major sections:

1.      Top Menu

 – this menu is used for administration and is rarely used by a normal user. It can be hidden but clicking the gradient bar after the ‘Reports’ button on the Module Menu.

2.      Module Menu

– this menu is the main navigation menu and provides the links to all the primary forms in DATAHUB CV10. Menu items are either ‘Available’, ‘Disabled’ or ‘Hidden’ depending on the package level you have ordered and the permissions that have been given to the logged on user.

3.      Active Form Control Menu

 – this menu bar sits directly under the Module Menu. It allows the user to control the active form in various ways, such as scrolling through records or printing a document. This menu only functions on forms that have been loaded directly from the Module Menu; if a form is loaded as a ‘child’ of another form (i.e. a form that is shown as a result of a drill down), then the controls on this menu will not function.

4.      Main Content Area

– this is where all the major forma are loaded. The majority of forms are ‘contained’ within this area.

5.      Side Menu

– the side menu provides quick access to the DateKeeper, SFDC and TA modules/applications. This menu is usefull for seeing items such as ‘jobs to do’ and who is currently on site (provided TA is being used).
